A life of Grace

A life of Grace

Grace is a word that almost leaves me breathless; why would I say that? Because when I was introduced to grace (the grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ), life began for me. Both of these words – “grace” and “life” are amazingly powerful words.

The word “grace” is related to the New Testament Greek work “chairo” (5463) and indicates joy as a direct result of God’s grace. It is also related to the Hebrew word meaning “a young lamb which, upon birth, almost immediately begins to jump and friskily hops around, seemingly expressing great joy at being alive.” To me this example relates very much to the way we feel and respond upon discovering that we are forgiven for our wrong choices and are being given a new beginning – it’s like we get to start over with a growing understanding of how to live abundantly in our new life in Christ. How incredible!!

Many of us as Christians however, believe we have experienced “grace” in its fullness when we became a “born again Christian.” But, there is so much more of grace that we have not yet understood and experienced. In actuality we are on a journey of discovering God’s grace, and through that journey we begin to experience life as God has purposed life to be for His children.

In working on a message about “grace”, I discovered this verse: Prov. 4:23, “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” Until grace was introduced to us, we merely existed; we inhaled and exhaled enabling us to exist. Since coming TO Christ and INTO Him, we now LIVE fully and eternally. And that LIFE is to be revealed to others through us. Yes, “springs of life”. When our hearts are kept pure and humble, life flows from us as springs.

Another verse I found in searching and researching is from Hebrews,
“… it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace” Heb. 13:9. To me it relates to 2 Cor. 12:9, “And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’”
