Filled up with the fullness of God

Filled up with the fullness of God

Jesus, we thank You that You are the perfect example of the Spirit-filled man and through Your life we can begin to understand what it means to be “filled up with all the fullness of God” (Eph 3:19).

For many years I have cried out to have a deeper revelation of this passage. I know that it begins in verse 14 – 19 with Paul’s appeal for us all to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit “with power in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith, and that in being rooted and grounded in love, we would be able to comprehend His love … the breadth, the length, the height and the depth.” And it goes on to say, “and to KNOW the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge.”

All of this precedes us being “filled up with all the fullness of God” (verse 19). His love filling us is the key!! When Paul says, “to KNOW the love of Christ”, he adds the phrase “which surpasses knowledge.” This is not about head knowledge, nor is it about the many books we have on our shelves. This love is only known through our intimate relationship with God; it is an experiential knowledge. In our communion with You we must experience and encounter You, experience an incredibly awesome awareness of Your Presence with us, in us. In so doing, we will be more deeply aware of Your Holy Spirit and the angelic presence all around us.

For us to experience the kind of encounter that You have purposed for us, we MUST be strengthened with power in our inner man, because Christ dwelling in us from this point on will be to a level or measure we never imagined possible. God wants us to be filled up with ALL the FULLNESS OF GOD!!
