David’s prayer that he prayed before all the assembly near the end of his life has always stirred me. It is such a powerful declaration of who God is:
“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed, everything that is in the heavens and the earth: Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all” 1 Chr. 29:11.
Surely, through all that David experienced during his life as the chosen one of God, he was confronted with each of these points listed in his prayer of declaration. Oh, how each of us is impacted when we are confronted by or somehow come into contact with our God who is Head over all.
I have known the power of His appearing and yet the gentle admonition He came to bring; other times I have experienced the power and glory of His Presence and heard the voice of Jesus calling out to me.
However those times occur, they are life-changing. Verses often come to mind which can feel as though God, Himself, spoke them from His throne room, ones such as Psalm 46:10: “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.” And we cry “Yes, Lord; even though everything occurring down here would say otherwise, we KNOW that Your word is true and it is eternal. It will be so.”
So, Lord, this morning we declare that Yours is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty. Indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth are Yours. Yours is the dominion!!
