Jesus, Himself, we are told (Luke 2:40), “… continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.”
When we think of the word “grace”, we usually apply it to salvation.
And, yes, grace is vital to salvation. Without it we could not be saved from our ungodly life – “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourself, it is the gift of God” Eph. 2:8.
But grace is SO MUCH MORE than just salvation.
One of the definitions I have found for grace is: “the operational power of God (the ability to be and to do).” Grace is a powerful word!
The grace to be – I am a child of God, through the amazing work of Jesus Christ. He called me out of darkness into His wonderful light. His forgiveness has given me new hope – a hope that puts a spring in my step and a song in my heart.
The grace to do – As His child, I love to operate in the power and authority of His Name. I am so blessed to work with Him – to bind and command illnesses to leave those I am praying with or to introduce someone to Jesus Christ.
My favorite grace verse is from 2 Corinthians 12:9, where we are told, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Paul goes on to say, “Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” Powerful!!
